William Chappelle III was an American male bon on December 16, 1938. He was the husband to Yvonne Seon and the father of Dave Chappelle. Moreover, he was also recognized for being the grandson to the later William D. Chappelle.
William D. Chappelle III was born in Columbia, South Carolina. Growing up, William D. Chappelle III attended Brown University and later graduated from Antioch College earning a Bachelor of Arts in music.
Although we don’t have specifics about his personal life, we know that William D. Chappelle III married Yvonne Seon and the couple welcomed a son, Dave Chappelle. Other details such as how much he was worth at the time of his death remain unknown. We however know that he has a good career as a professor of music.
The Career of William David Chappelle III
At one point, William D. Chappelle served in the United States Army for four years. During this period, he played clarinet in the server. He then became a faculty member in the Co-op Department in 1967 and this was after he moved to yellow Springs, Ohio.
William D. Chappelle III then became a professor in the music department and he focused on teaching vocal performance. Moreover, he served at some terms as the Dean of Community Services and the Dean of Students.
Notably, he was actively engaged as an organizer in the civil right movement in Ohio. Additionally, he was a member of the Yellow Springs Human Relations Commission in the 1970s.
Chappelle III also founded the African American Cross-Cultural Works and also taught a class on anti-racist activism at Antioch College. He also worked several years on community programs in Washington, D.C, as a statistician.
Awards and Death
So far, it is clear that William D. Chappelle was a man involved in doing much for humanity. He was involved in several jobs and activities. Through his work and determination, he received the Walter F. Anderson Award from the Antioch College Alumni Association. The award was because of his efforts in advancing Antioch College’s ideals by breaking down ethnic and racial barriers.
Like all things, William D. Chappelle III had an end of life. He had done much for humanity at the end of his death and his legacy lives on. He died in July 1998 in Yellow Springs.
